B.B. King Posters

The famous B.B. King concert poster on the left, from Galveston, Texas, is commonly perceived to be from 1955, but we say it’s 1960. For one thing, we’ve seen a 1954 concert poster of King’s, and he looks much younger than he does on these posters. But the real proof was when a second example surfaced, from the Savoy Ballroom. The way the latter poster dates out, it has to be from 1950, 1961 or 1967. Since 1950 is way too early and 1967 way too late, 1961 it is. Which means this iconic green & black design was used in the 1960-61 era – still the best-looking and most popular B.B. King tour poster ever made.
